Sara and I went to the Getty yesterday.

We tried.

It’s just that I don’t really think we’re much for art. The exhibits really are something, don’t get me wrong, but I have a hard time locking in and paying attention past the first three or so pieces of any given gallery. Blame it on the ADD. We all have it, right? Sara did a lot better job than I, until one of the museum attendants had to ask her stop spinning and sliding on the hardwood floor. Like I said, I don’t really think we’re much for art. Regardless, the Getty itself is right up my alley. I could spend all day wandering the grounds. The fierce aesthetic of the place matched with the human element about it just gets me. After ducking in and out of a couple exhibits, I had my chance to wander for a bit. This was a little of what I saw.

Dan O’Day - a little belated, but great set mate.. each frame is a winner

Jake - I love the reflections.

Mike - dude.

Jeremiah Klein - You need your own section at the Getty of the Getty. Seriously, find the marketing person and email them your blog or make a few prints and just send them in. I’m sure they will put your work to good use.

ryan flynn - i really like the getty. and these photos.

kyle - Great capture on image 2, Hugh.

Phill - Maybe it’s akin to not buying in to various genres of music. Doesn’t mean you’re not much for music. There’s art of its own kind in hefty hewn blocks of stone; vision and endeavour that you’ve rendered evocatively here.

Rod - My first engagement shoot was at the Getty, and after looking at your images, it is further proof that I will never ever post that session. Also…funny that not being much for art makes people like me want your not-art (above) on my wall, so I can stare at it.

Sophie - I like the part of the story with the attendants ! Funny!
Some greats photos in this post. The 1st and 4th are my favs.
I love your personal work.

matthew morgan - i agree with both mollie and sara: you’re def FOR art, at least some form it (i.e. the frames above) and your eye does sees things that the avg does not; some pretty amazing sights.

Sara - Ha, she has a point. You made the place look more amazing than it does in person. And the gallery dancing? Maybe I was just extremely inspired.

Mollie - Not much for art… from someone why says “The fierce aesthetic of the place matched with the human element”… hummmm….
